Your Chance to Make a Difference
Are you a social media guru? Care about youth health? Want to make a difference in the lives of other young people? Then why not throw your hand up to be part of the Youth Solutions Youth Advisory Group?!
The local youth service, located on Level 4 of our very own Macarthur Square, is currently recruiting volunteers, aged 16 – 25 years, to join its ranks and assist the Youth Advisory Group (YAG). Youth Solutions itself is a youth drug and alcohol prevention and health promotion charity, working with young people and the wider community across Macarthur and Wingecarribee.
Youth Solutions Chief Executive Officer Geraldine Dean says the YAG plays an important role in ensuring the youth service’s programs, campaigns, activities and, increasingly, its online communications, are appropriately engaging with and making a difference in the lives of young people.
“Our Youth Advisory Group volunteers really are the heart of our organisation. To effectively reach and work with young people and make a positive impact in their lives, we really need the input of other young people,” Mrs Dean said.
“That’s where the YAG come in. They help us to shape our programs and campaigns, are involved in delivering peer education projects, health promotion and social marketing campaigns. Their contribution really is invaluable.”
This year there is a particular call for young people who were keen to use their social media influence for good.
The YAG meets on Tuesday evenings (currently online).
