Frequently Asked Questions

Customer Q & A

Macarthur Square has introduced Smart Park, a new advanced managed parking system based on licence plate recognition.

In addition, car parks will include a parking guidance system using red, green and blue LED space indicators in multi-level car parks, along with electronic display boards showing the number of available bays throughout all car parks, making it quicker and easier for customers to find a parking space.

From 31 October 2017, customers will enjoy 3 hours free parking when they visit Macarthur Square. For more information about Smart Park, please refer to the Q & A’s below.

Q: Why is managed parking being introduced to Macarthur Square's car park?

A: Macarthur Square is committed to providing the best customer experience to its customers. Feedback received from customers and retailers highlighted that difficulty parking was one of the main issues they experienced when shopping at Macarthur Square. As the Centre is located so close to the train station this also meant that genuine customers were not able to find convenient parking throughout the day. We have partnered with industry experts and introduced Smart Park to improve your experience. The new managed system will improve the parking experience by improving the ease and time required to find a car space.

Q: How does the new parking system work?

A: Smart Park is a ticketless parking system based on licence plate recognition. On entry, a camera will recognise vehicle rego numbers. Customers won’t be required to stop as no ticket will be issued.

Customers who park in the multi-level car parks can locate available car spaces using the red, green and blue LED light system overhead.

Customers who park in the outdoor car parks can locate available car spaces using the electronic sign boards located at the various entries.

Q: How much will it cost to park at Macarthur Square?

A: Parking will be FREE for customers who:

  • Park for 3 hours or less
  • Enter the Centre after 6pm and leave before midnight
  • Have an authorised mobility parking scheme permit
  • Spend over $150 per visit and validate their receipts with Customer Service
  • See a movie during their visit and validate their cinema ticket

In addition, customers with seniors card will receive an additional hour FREE when they register at the Customer Service Desk.

For those who stay beyond three hours, parking costs will start at only $3.

Q: How can I pay for my parking?

A: The first 3 hours of parking is free. Customers who have been at the centre for less than three hours will not be required to pay for their parking and can proceed directly to the exit. Upon exit, the camera will recognise the customer’s rego and the boom gate will automatically open.

Customers who have stayed more than three hours in the Centre will incur a fee. Payment can be made in three easy ways for a seamless exit:

  • Enter their rego number and pay at any pay station located within the Centre;
  • Register their details at parking.macarthursquare.com.au and exit the car park as normal. The parking fee will be automatically charged to their credit or debit card;
  • Insert credit or debit card or utilise pay wave upon exiting.

Q: Why should customers register online?

A: Customers are encouraged to register their vehicle rego number and credit or debit card details at parking.macarthursquare.com.au.

Once registered, if customers choose to stay longer than three hours there will be no need to visit a pay station as the fee will be automatically charged to their registered credit or debit card on exit.

Q. How do I register?

A: 24 hours before visiting the centre, register your details once at parking.macarthursquare.com.au. On your next visit, proceed directly to the exit and the parking fee will be automatically charged to your registered credit or debit card.

Q: Will my personal details be kept secure?

A: Macarthur Square will keep all personal details secure in accordance with our privacy policy which can be found on our website.

Q: How do cinema visitors validate their parking?

A: Cinema visitors can enjoy free parking by validating their cinema ticket at any pay station using the barcode located on the cinema ticket. Upon exit, the camera will recognise the customer’s vehicle rego number and the boom gate will automatically open.

Note: There is no cinema validation available at the exit gate.

Q: I have a mobility parking scheme permit, will rates apply?

A: Customers with an authorised mobility parking scheme permit will be able to park free all day if their permit and licence plate details are registered at the Customer Service Desk located on Level 1.

Q. I have a seniors card, how do I register for an additional hour free?

A. Please present your seniors card at Customer Service located on Level 1 to register.

Q. Where can commuters park?

A: Commuters can continue to park in the Basement car park as per normal. 230 car spaces are accessible off Menangle Road.

Q: What happens if customers leave the Centre and come back later?

A: Customers are entitled to 3 hours free parking on first entry into the car park. When returning to the car park in the same day, an additional 3 hours free parking will be available if your time of car park entry is more than 60 minutes after exiting.

Q: Will I be charged for the time it takes me to park my car?

A: The new controlled parking system will make parking quicker and easier.

The 3 hours free parking limit will begin at the time vehicles enter the car park.

Q: Will there be staff to help?

A: The car park will be managed 24 hours a day by staff. Customers when requiring assistance can contact car park staff by pressing the call button on any exit or pay machine.
